Welcome to my campaign website. I'm running for the 138th District of the New York State Assembly because I am extremely concerned with the direction of our state. The people of New York are continuously being driven out of the state due to our current leader's overwhelming desire to tax and spend. Frankly, too many of our friends, families and neighbors have been forced to leave the state due to a lack of opportunities. As a father of four children, I want my children to at least have the choice of staying in Western New York. With the current direction of our state, that choice is being taken away - they will be forced to leave due to a lack of opportunities.

In addition, New York State is one of the least business-friendly states in the country. Antiquated and burdensome regulations such as Wicks Law and Scaffold Law only make it more difficult for businesses in New York to compete with other areas of the country. If our economy is to thrive, we must create an atmosphere that is conducive to business growth.

These laws, when combined with regulations such as the Taylor Law, drive up the cost of doing business in New York State. This fact seems to have been lost on our current Albany representatives, including incumbent 138th Assemblywoman Francine DelMonte. She, along with her colleagues, is more concerned with supporting job-killing legislation and sending our precious resources downstate than acting in the best interests of the people who put them in office.

Like many of you, I am angry. I am fed up with career politicians who are more concerned with preserving their seats in Albany, seats that they conveniently seem to have forgotten are a privilege, not a right. The status quo is no longer acceptable and we cannot continue to tolerate the ineptitude of our so called leaders in Albany any longer.

The bottom line is that you have to ask yourself: are you better off now than you were 10 years ago when Francine DelMonte was first sent to Albany to represent us? Are our communities safer? Is our economy better? Has our tax burden been reduced? Are businesses in our community thriving? The reality is that the answer to these questions is a resounding "no" for most people. If I am elected to represent that 138th Assembly District, I will put the interests of Western New York above all else. I will not cater to New York City interests, and I will not sit idly by while Western New York gets the short end of the stick, as we have for years during the DelMonte administration.

Thank you for your support.

Albany is Killing Upstate New York

We have lacked leaders who will stand up to the New York City bosses and fight for OUR best interests.  I'm running for Assembly to fix the problems they've created.  I will work to create jobs and economic opportunities for all Niagara County.

Our community should be free of dangerous sexual predators

There are currently 178 registered sex offenders, including 48 active Level Three offenders, residing in the City of Niagara Falls. The state defines Level Three offenders as a high risk of repeat offense and a threat to public safety exists.

The fact of the matter is that the State of New York is using the City of Niagara Falls as a dumping ground for the most dangerous of criminals in our society, those who prey on the children of our community. Meanwhile, Francine DelMonte, while claiming to be concerned with this disturbing trend, has done nothing to curb the influx of sex offenders into the city.  Although New York State Senate had passed a version of civil confinement legislation in 2007, it was a significantly watered-down version of what had previously been proposed.
            Keep Our Children Here

If we are going to remain competitive, New York must attract business to the state. In addition, we must work to retain businesses that have already invested in our community. I am committed to creating a pro-business atmosphere across the state of New York and here in Niagara County so our children have the opportunity to find gainful employment in Niagara County, instead of being forced to depart to other parts of the country due to a lack of opportunities in the state. Pictured above is John with his wife Beth and their four children: John, Vince, Teresa and Anne Marie.

Fight to Clean up Albany
I am fed up with the status quo in Albany.  Corruption and dysfunction have led to record budget deficits and our legislators have failed to pass an on-time budget once again.  I will fight in Albany to bring integrity back to state government.
Protect the Taxpayer

Albany politicians just don't get it - they're taxing us to death.  The 2009 state budget increased taxes by $9 billion and spending by $11 Billion.  I will work tirelessly in the Assembly to cut state spending and deliver real tax relief to hard-working, over-taxed residents of Niagara County.

Return Jobs to Niagara County

I have led the fight to reverse the sweep of $550 million in New York Power Authority funds from our community because those dollars should be used to generate economic development opportunities and good-paying jobs right here in Niagara County.
